Description

A vulnerability exists in the Python standard library tarfile.extractall() function used in Red Hat AI Base Images 3.2.4 (CUDA 12.9). This flaw allows a specially crafted archive to bypass security filters by using a hardlink referencing a symlink, enabling files to be read or written outside the intended extraction directory. This can lead to information disclosure or arbitrary file modification. Red Hat has not provided a fix for this issue yet and mitigation options are limited or do not meet their criteria for deployment.
