Red Hat currently does not provide a mitigation or patch that meets their criteria for ease of use, applicability, or stability. No immediate action is available from Red Hat at this time.
Description
A vulnerability exists in the Python tarfile.extractall() function used in Red Hat AI Base Images 3.5.3 (Neuron). This flaw allows a specially crafted archive to bypass security filters by using a hardlink referencing a symlink, enabling extraction outside the intended directory. This can lead to unauthorized file reads or writes, potentially causing information disclosure or arbitrary file modification. Red Hat has not yet released a fix for this issue and currently has no suitable mitigation that meets their criteria.
