Red Hat platform hardenings (ASLR, NX, FORTIFY_SOURCE, SELinux) provide some mitigation but do not fully prevent exploitation. Avoid decompressing untrusted Brotli data where possible until a patch is released.
Description
CVE-2026-111497 is a high-severity vulnerability in the Google Brotli decoder used in Red Hat AI Base Images 3.5.6 (CUDA 13.0). It involves an out-of-bounds write triggered by a crafted Brotli-compressed stream during decompression of untrusted data. This flaw can lead to memory disclosure, denial of service, or potentially arbitrary code execution. Exploitation requires decompression of attacker-controlled Brotli data, such as HTTP content with Content-Encoding: br or APIs like Node.js zlib/fetch(). Red Hat platform hardenings increase exploitation difficulty but do not eliminate the risk.
