AI-suggested

Red Hat platform hardenings such as ASLR, NX, FORTIFY_SOURCE, and SELinux increase exploitation difficulty. For other affected Red Hat products, customers should follow the detailed mitigation procedures in the Red Hat security bulletin RHSB-2026:015. Updating system Brotli packages is recommended where applicable.

Description

CVE-2026-111497 is a high-severity vulnerability in the Google Brotli decoder used by Red Hat AI Base Images and other Red Hat products. It involves an out-of-bounds write triggered by a crafted Brotli-compressed stream, potentially leading to memory disclosure, denial of service, or arbitrary code execution when decompressing untrusted Brotli data. Exploitation requires processing attacker-controlled Brotli data, such as HTTP content with Content-Encoding: br. Red Hat platform hardenings increase exploitation difficulty but do not eliminate the risk.
