What to do
AI-suggested
A fix is available by updating Red Hat Ansible Automation Platform Execution Environments to ansible-core version 2.16.19, which includes the patched urllib3 library. Users should apply this update after ensuring all previously released errata are applied. No alternative mitigations meeting Red Hat's criteria are currently available.
Description
A denial of service vulnerability exists in the urllib3 Python library used by Red Hat Ansible Automation Platform. A malicious server can exploit this flaw by sending an HTTP response with an excessive number of chained compression algorithms, causing unbounded decompression. This leads to excessive CPU and memory consumption, making the application unresponsive. Red Hat has released an update to ansible-core version 2.16.19 which includes fixes for this issue and dependency updates including urllib3.
