AI-suggested
Red Hat has released updated RPM packages including buildah-1.44.0-1.hum1 that address this vulnerability. Applying this update is the recommended remediation. No other mitigations are currently available or meet Red Hat's criteria for ease of deployment and applicability. Users should update to the fixed versions as soon as possible to prevent potential denial of service.
Description
CVE-2026-45287 is a vulnerability in OpenTelemetry-Go's schema parsing functionality where the ParseFile function leaks a file descriptor by not closing a schema file after opening it. This leak occurs in versions before schema package 0.0.17 and affects v1.0 and v1.1 of the otel/schema package. Repeated parsing in a long-running process can exhaust file descriptors, potentially causing denial of service. Exposure is limited to applications that allow schema parsing of untrusted file paths. Red Hat has released an update including buildah 1.44.0-1.hum1 to address this issue. No mitigation other than updating is currently recommended by Red Hat.
