What to do

AI-suggested

Red Hat has released updated RPM packages for Red Hat Hardened Images that fix this vulnerability. Users should apply the update to libusb1 packages as provided in the advisory. No additional mitigations are required beyond applying the official fix.

Description

A vulnerability in libusb allows an attacker to cause a denial of service by providing a specially crafted USB configuration descriptor. This can lead to a null pointer dereference and crash the application using libusb. The flaw can be exploited through virtualized USB passthrough, file-based descriptor parsing, or network sources. The issue affects system availability but does not allow arbitrary code execution. Red Hat has issued an update for Red Hat Hardened Images RPMs to address this issue.
