What to do
AI-suggested
Users should apply the updated Red Hat Hardened Images RPM packages provided in the advisory (vim 9.2.967-1.1.hum1 and related packages). Until updates are applied, users should avoid opening C source files and invoking C omni-completion on files from untrusted or suspicious sources. Red Hat manages remediation through these package updates. No indication of automatic or cloud service patching is provided.
Description
A security advisory from Red Hat addresses multiple vulnerabilities in Red Hat Hardened Images RPMs, including a notable flaw in Vim (CVE-2026-73073). This Vim vulnerability allows an attacker to execute arbitrary commands by crafting a malicious tags file and tricking a user into invoking C omni-completion on a C file from an untrusted source. The advisory provides updated RPM packages to fix these issues. Users are advised to avoid opening C source files and invoking C omni-completion on files from untrusted origins to mitigate risk.
