AI-suggested

Red Hat has released updated tomcat10 RPM packages (version 10.1.57-3.1.hum1) as part of the Hardened Images update to address this vulnerability. Deployments using LockOutRealm with a case-insensitive authentication backend should apply these updates promptly. Deployments not using LockOutRealm or using case-sensitive backends are not affected and require no action.

Description

A vulnerability in Apache Tomcat's LockOutRealm component mishandles case sensitivity in usernames when configured with a case-insensitive authentication backend. This reduces the effectiveness of brute-force attack protections. The flaw only affects deployments using LockOutRealm with a case-insensitive backend, which is not the default configuration. Red Hat has issued an update for Red Hat Hardened Images RPMs including tomcat10 packages to address this issue.
