AI-suggested
Red Hat currently does not provide a patch or mitigation that meets their criteria for this vulnerability. Users should be aware that exposure is limited to applications that parse schemas from untrusted file paths. If possible, avoid exposing schema parsing functionality to untrusted inputs. No urgent action is required if your environment does not expose this vulnerable code path.
Description
CVE-2026-45287 is a vulnerability in OpenTelemetry-Go's schema parsing functionality where the ParseFile function leaks a file descriptor on each successful call by not closing the opened file. This can lead to exhaustion of file descriptors in long-running processes that repeatedly parse schema files, potentially causing denial of service. The exposure is limited to applications that parse schemas from untrusted file paths. Many Red Hat Go services include the library transitively but do not invoke this vulnerable code path.
