AI-suggested

The only mitigation is to update the Go toolchain to a fixed version: Go 1.25.12 or Go 1.26.5. Programs compiled with Go versions prior to 1.24 or that do not use the os.Root API are not affected. Red Hat has released updated golang1.25 packages containing the fix. Users should apply these updates to eliminate the vulnerability.

Description

A vulnerability was found in the os.Root functionality of the Go programming language on Unix systems. The flaw allows an attacker who can create symbolic links within an os.Root directory to bypass intended directory restrictions by crafting a path ending with a symbolic link and a trailing slash. This improper symlink resolution can lead to unauthorized file system access or information disclosure. The issue affects Go versions starting from 1.24, with fixes available in Go 1.25.12 and 1.26.5. Red Hat has issued an update for its Hardened Images RPMs including these fixed Go versions.
