What to do
AI-suggested
A fix is available in the updated Red Hat Hardened Images RPMs including curl-8.22.0-0.1.hum1 and related libcurl packages. Users should apply this update. Additionally, to mitigate the vulnerability, prevent connection reuse by setting CURLOPT_FORBID_REUSE for transfers using Negotiate authentication with empty credentials and isolate libcurl connection pools across different security principals. Enforcing network boundaries to limit outbound HTTP access can further reduce risk while patches are applied.
Description
A moderate security flaw was identified in libcurl used in Red Hat Hardened Images RPMs. The vulnerability allows information disclosure due to improper reuse of HTTP connections with Negotiate authentication when initial requests use empty credentials. This can lead to a subsequent user's request being sent over a previously authenticated connection, potentially exposing sensitive data. The issue specifically affects applications configured to use Negotiate authentication.
