Red Hat has released updated RPM packages (loki3.7-3.7.8-0.2.hum1 and related) that fix this vulnerability. Users should apply these updates to remediate the issue. No additional mitigations or workarounds are specified by Red Hat.

Description

A vulnerability (CVE-2026-81871) was found in OpenTelemetry-Go's gRPC log exporter used in Red Hat Hardened Images RPMs. The flaw allows a network attacker to bypass private Certificate Authority pinning and mutual TLS configurations due to improper use of system-trusted certificates instead of configured client certificates. This enables interception and spoofing of the collector connection, potentially leading to unauthorized reading or alteration of sensitive log telemetry data. Red Hat has released updated RPM packages to address this issue.
