Red Hat has released updated python3.11 packages (version 3.11.16-1.1.hum1) that fix this vulnerability. Users of affected Red Hat Hardened Images RPMs should apply these updates to remediate the issue. No alternative mitigations or workarounds are specified in the advisory.
Description
A vulnerability (CVE-2026-3446) was found in the Python base64 module used in Red Hat Hardened Images RPMs. The flaw causes the base64 decoding process to stop prematurely upon encountering the first padding character, resulting in incomplete decoding of data. This can lead to inconsistent handling of base64-encoded data and potential data integrity issues in applications relying on this module. Red Hat has released updated python3.11 packages to address this issue.
