Red Hat has released updated RPM packages (loki3.6 version 3.6.17-0.2.hum1) that fix this vulnerability. Users should apply these updates to their Red Hat Hardened Images to remediate the issue. No alternative mitigations or workarounds are specified in the advisory. Since a fix is available, applying the official update is the recommended action.
Description
A vulnerability (CVE-2026-81871) was found in OpenTelemetry-Go's gRPC log exporter used in Red Hat Hardened Images RPMs. The flaw allows a network attacker to bypass the intended private CA pinning and mutual TLS configurations by incorrectly using system-trusted certificates instead of the application's configured client certificates. This enables interception and spoofing of the collector connection, potentially allowing unauthorized reading or alteration of sensitive log telemetry data. Red Hat has released updated RPM packages to address this issue.
