A security update is available from Red Hat for the qt5-qtbase packages included in Red Hat Hardened Images. Users should apply this update to remediate the vulnerability. No other mitigations meeting Red Hat's criteria for ease of use and applicability are currently available.
Description
A denial-of-service (DoS) vulnerability exists in Qt's XML parsing due to unbounded recursion in the QDomNode destructor during QDomDocument parsing. This flaw allows a remote attacker to cause a crash by processing crafted untrusted XML input, potentially making the affected system unresponsive. Red Hat has issued an update for Red Hat Hardened Images RPMs including qt5-qtbase packages to address this issue. No mitigations meeting Red Hat's criteria are currently available. The vulnerability is rated medium severity by Red Hat.
