AI-suggested
Red Hat has released updated nodejs26 RPMs (version 26.5.0-1.4.hum1) that address this vulnerability. Users should apply these updates to remediate the issue. No practical workaround or mitigation exists other than upgrading to the fixed version. The vulnerability is typically introduced via transitive dependencies, making isolation difficult. Red Hat manages remediation through official package updates.
Description
A denial of service vulnerability exists in the brace-expansion npm package used by Red Hat Hardened Images RPMs. The expand() function can be exploited with specially crafted input containing consecutive non-expanding brace groups, causing exponential-time complexity and significant CPU consumption, leading to event-loop blocking and denial of service. This vulnerability affects the nodejs26 package and related components. No practical mitigation exists other than upgrading to a fixed version when available.
