AI-suggested

Upgrade to the fixed Helm version 3.21.4-0.1.hum1 provided by Red Hat Hardened Images RPMs. As a workaround, verify that Helm charts from third-party or untrusted sources do not contain zero-byte files before processing them with Helm commands such as template, install, upgrade, lint, or SDK Engine.Render. No configuration changes fully prevent this issue.

Description

A denial of service vulnerability was found in Helm, a Kubernetes package manager. The flaw occurs when Helm processes chart files containing zero-length byte slices (empty files), causing an index out of range panic in the Files.Lines template helper. This panic stops operations such as template rendering, installation, upgrade, linting, and SDK Engine.Render from completing. Exploitation requires processing a crafted chart from an untrusted source. The impact is limited to local denial of service without data exposure or corruption. Red Hat has released an update to address this issue.
