What to do

AI-suggested

Red Hat advises ensuring applications run strictly on 64-bit architectures to prevent the integer overflow. Additionally, configure applications to connect only to trusted and verified SSH servers. A security update is available in Red Hat Hardened Images RPMs including libssh2-1.11.1-10.4.hum1. Red Hat Enterprise Linux 8 and newer do not require action as they are not affected.

Description

A heap buffer overflow vulnerability exists in libssh2 due to an integer overflow triggered by a malicious SSH server sending a manipulated attribute count. This flaw can cause a connecting client to crash or potentially allow unauthorized code execution. Red Hat Hardened Images shipping libssh2 are affected, but Red Hat Enterprise Linux 8 and newer are not impacted as they do not include libssh2. Mitigation includes running applications on 64-bit architectures and connecting only to trusted SSH servers.
