What to do
AI-suggested
Red Hat advises disabling source map auto-loading by passing map: false when invoking PostCSS. This prevents the path traversal vulnerability from being triggered but disables source map support entirely. No official fixed version is stated in the advisory. Users should apply the update to the provided RPM versions if available or apply the mitigation configuration to reduce risk.
Description
CVE-2026-69153 is a moderate severity vulnerability in PostCSS used in Red Hat Hardened Images RPMs. It involves a path traversal flaw triggered by a specially crafted sourceMappingURL when the 'from' parameter is not set, allowing an attacker to cause the application to read unintended source-map files. These files may disclose limited sensitive information about the application's source code but do not allow arbitrary file reading. Exploitation requires server-side processing of attacker-controlled CSS through PostCSS. A mitigation is to disable source map auto-loading by passing map: false when invoking PostCSS, which prevents the vulnerability but removes source map support.
