AI-suggested

A fix is available in the updated rust-rpm-sequoia packages rpm-sequoia-1.10.3-0.3.hum1 and rpm-sequoia-devel-1.10.3-0.3.hum1. Users should apply these updates to remediate the vulnerability. Until patched, avoid processing untrusted or attacker-controlled RPM files with rpm signature verification commands such as rpm -Kv or rpm --checksig. Use isolated environments or additional validation layers when handling untrusted RPM artifacts.

Description

A vulnerability in rust-rpm-sequoia allows an attacker to cause an application-level denial of service by providing a specially crafted RPM file. The flaw triggers a Rust panic during OpenPGP signature verification, causing the rpm process to abort unconditionally. This issue can be exploited without privileges or user interaction by processing a malicious RPM file, for example using rpm -Kv or rpm --checksig. The vulnerability affects Red Hat Hardened Images RPMs and has been addressed in updated packages.
