What to do

AI-suggested

Red Hat currently does not provide a mitigation that meets their criteria for ease of use, deployment, and applicability. Users should ensure all previously released errata are applied. Monitoring Red Hat advisories for updates or patches is recommended.

Description

A denial of service vulnerability exists in the Axios npm package used by Red Hat Migration Toolkit for Containers (MTC). The flaw occurs in the mergeConfig function, which crashes with a TypeError when processing configuration objects containing a __proto__ property. This can be triggered by an unauthenticated remote attacker supplying malicious JSON input, causing backend Node.js services that use Axios with dynamic configuration merging to crash. Browser-based frontends and static configurations are not affected. Red Hat rates this vulnerability as Important severity and currently has no mitigation that meets their criteria.
