Red Hat has released OpenShift Service Mesh version 3.1.7 which includes fixes for all listed vulnerabilities. Users should upgrade to this version to remediate the security issues. No additional mitigation steps are indicated in the vendor advisory beyond applying the update.
Description
Red Hat OpenShift Service Mesh 3.1.7 addresses multiple security vulnerabilities including incorrect parsing of IPv6 host literals, authorization bypass in gRPC-Go due to improper HTTP/2 path validation, arbitrary file write and code execution via BuildKit, unauthorized file access via Git URL fragments, and denial of service via crafted JSON Web Encryption objects. These issues affect components such as istio-rhel9-operator, istio-cni-rhel9, istio-pilot-rhel9, and istio-proxyv2-rhel9. The update also fixes a bug related to operator metrics reader ClusterRole conflicts.
