AI-suggested

Red Hat has released updated rsync packages for Red Hat Enterprise Linux 9 and its Extended Update Support versions that address these vulnerabilities. Users should apply the security update as described in Red Hat advisory RHSA-2026:26410 and the referenced article https://access.redhat.com/articles/11258. No additional mitigation steps are indicated beyond applying the official patches.

Description

Two security vulnerabilities have been identified in the rsync utility used in Red Hat Enterprise Linux 9. One is a remote memory disclosure caused by an integer overflow in compressed-token decoding (CVE-2026-43618). The other is a time-of-check to time-of-use (TOCTOU) symlink race condition that allows local privilege escalation when rsync is run in daemon mode without chroot (CVE-2026-29518). Red Hat has issued an important security update addressing these issues.
