AI-suggested

Red Hat has released security updates for sssd in Red Hat Enterprise Linux 9.2 (sssd-2.8.2-5.el9_2.7) that address these vulnerabilities. Users should apply the official Red Hat update as detailed in the advisory RHSA-2026:49843 and the update article at https://access.redhat.com/articles/11258. No additional mitigations are specified or required beyond applying the provided patches.

Description

Two security vulnerabilities were identified in the System Security Services Daemon (SSSD) used in Red Hat Enterprise Linux 9.2. The first vulnerability (CVE-2026-14474) involves the sudo LDAP provider searching the entire directory tree for sudoRole objects by default, which can enable privilege escalation. The second vulnerability (CVE-2026-14476) involves a path traversal in the Group Policy Object (GPO) cache via an unsanitized gPCFileSysPath, allowing Kerberos authentication bypass. Red Hat has released security updates addressing these issues in version 2.8.2-5.el9_2.7 of the sssd package for Red Hat Enterprise Linux 9.2. The update is rated as important by Red Hat Product Security.
