AI-suggested
Red Hat has released updated Thunderbird packages (e.g., thunderbird-140.9.1-1.el9_7) for Red Hat Enterprise Linux 9 and its variants that address these vulnerabilities. Users should apply these updates promptly to mitigate the risks. Detailed update instructions are available in the Red Hat advisory at https://access.redhat.com/articles/11258. No additional mitigations are specified beyond applying the official patches.
Description
Multiple security vulnerabilities affecting Mozilla Thunderbird and related components have been addressed in Red Hat Enterprise Linux 9 updates. These include arbitrary code execution due to a use-after-free in libpng, information disclosure and denial of service via out-of-bounds read/write in libpng's Neon palette expansion, memory safety bugs, and an integer overflow in the graphics text component. The fixes are included in Thunderbird ESR 140.9.1 and Thunderbird 149.0.2 packages provided by Red Hat.
