Red Hat has released an official security update for TigerVNC in Red Hat Enterprise Linux 9 and its variants to address these vulnerabilities. Users should apply the update as per the instructions in the Red Hat advisory (https://access.redhat.com/articles/11258). Since this is an official fix, applying the update fully mitigates the vulnerabilities. No additional mitigation steps are indicated by the vendor.
Description
TigerVNC, a suite of VNC servers and clients used for remote desktop access, has received a security update addressing multiple vulnerabilities in the xorg-x11-server component. These include heap buffer overread and data leakage issues in ProcXIGetSelectedEvents (CVE-2024-31080) and ProcXIPassiveGrabDevice (CVE-2024-31081), as well as a use-after-free vulnerability in ProcRenderAddGlyphs (CVE-2024-31083). The update is rated as important by Red Hat and affects Red Hat Enterprise Linux 9 and its variants. Users are advised to apply the update as detailed in the Red Hat advisory.
