Red Hat has released updated container images for the OpenStack Platform 17.1 director Operator that address this vulnerability. Users should update to these fixed container images by pulling them from the Red Hat container registry using 'podman pull'. No additional mitigation is required once updated images are deployed.
Description
A vulnerability in the Go crypto/x509 package used by Red Hat OpenStack Platform 17.1 director Operator container images allows man-in-the-middle attacks via untrusted intermediate certificates. The certificate verification process fails to block trust in intermediate certificates associated with compromised Certificate Authorities, enabling attackers to impersonate legitimate servers during secure connections. Updated container images have been released to address this issue.
