What to do

AI-suggested

Red Hat has released updated Vim packages for Red Hat Enterprise Linux 9.2 that address these vulnerabilities. Users should apply the provided security updates as detailed in the Red Hat advisory (https://access.redhat.com/articles/11258) to remediate these issues. No alternative mitigations or workarounds are specified; applying the official patches is the recommended action.

Description

Multiple security vulnerabilities have been identified in Vim (Vi IMproved), including arbitrary command execution via modeline sandbox bypass, arbitrary file overwrite through path traversal in the zip.vim plugin, and command injection via malicious tag files and when decompressing .tgz archives. These issues allow attackers to execute arbitrary code or overwrite files, posing significant security risks. Red Hat has issued an important security advisory with updates for Red Hat Enterprise Linux 9.2 to address these vulnerabilities.
