What to do

AI-suggested

Red Hat has released security updates for Vim in Red Hat Enterprise Linux 8.4 Extended Life Cycle and AUS variants. Users should apply these official patches promptly to remediate the vulnerabilities. For detailed update instructions, refer to Red Hat's advisory and article at https://access.redhat.com/articles/11258. No additional mitigation steps are indicated beyond applying the provided updates.

Description

Multiple security vulnerabilities have been identified in Vim (Vi IMproved), including arbitrary command execution via modeline sandbox bypass, arbitrary file overwrite through path traversal in the zip.vim plugin, command injection via malicious tag files, and command injection when decompressing .tgz archives. These issues allow potential arbitrary code execution and file overwrites. Red Hat has issued an important security advisory with updates for affected Vim packages in Red Hat Enterprise Linux 8.4 variants.
