What to do
AI-suggested
Red Hat has released security updates for Vim in Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7 Extended Lifecycle Support to address these vulnerabilities. Users should apply the provided updates as detailed in the Red Hat advisory (https://access.redhat.com/articles/11258) to remediate these issues. No additional mitigation steps are indicated beyond applying the official patches.
Description
Multiple security vulnerabilities have been identified and fixed in the Vim text editor as part of a Red Hat security advisory. These include arbitrary command execution, arbitrary code execution via various vectors such as modeline sandbox bypass, crafted tag files, Python omni-completion, and crafted directory names, as well as denial of service via stack out-of-bounds write and out-of-bounds write in spell file word count. The advisory covers a range of CVEs affecting Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7 Extended Lifecycle Support. The update addresses these issues to prevent potential arbitrary code execution and denial of service attacks.
