A security update for webkit2gtk3 is available for Red Hat Enterprise Linux 9.6 Extended Update Support that addresses these vulnerabilities. Users should apply the update as described in the Red Hat advisory (https://access.redhat.com/articles/11258) to remediate these critical issues. No additional mitigation steps are indicated beyond applying the official patch.
Description
Multiple critical security vulnerabilities have been identified and fixed in the ANGLE component used by the chromium-browser within the webkit2gtk3 package on Red Hat Enterprise Linux 9.6. These include arbitrary code execution, information disclosure, use-after-free, buffer overflow, improper input validation, and uninitialized resource issues. The update also addresses a regression affecting Eclipse IDE WebKit-based views. The vulnerabilities are rated critical and affect the ANGLE graphics engine used by Chromium-based browsers.
