Description

Sylius versions through 2.3.0 have an authorization bypass vulnerability that allows unauthenticated attackers to access unmoderated and rejected product reviews. This occurs because the AcceptedExtension filter is not applied to the item operation, enabling attackers to enumerate sequential review IDs via the API endpoint /api/v2/shop/product-reviews/{id}. Attackers can retrieve review titles, ratings, comments, timestamps, and author first names, bypassing merchant moderation controls.

Technical Analysis

The vulnerability in Sylius up to version 2.3.0 is an authorization bypass (CWE-639) that allows unauthenticated users to read product reviews that are unmoderated or rejected. This is due to the AcceptedExtension filter not being applied to the item operation on the GET /api/v2/shop/product-reviews/{id} endpoint. Attackers can enumerate sequential IDs to access sensitive review data including titles, ratings, comments, timestamps, and author first names, circumventing intended merchant moderation.

Potential Impact

Unauthenticated attackers can access product review data that should be restricted, including unmoderated and rejected reviews. This exposure can lead to information disclosure of potentially sensitive user-generated content and bypasses merchant moderation controls. There is no indication of impact on data integrity or availability.

Mitigation Recommendations

Patch status is not yet confirmed — check the vendor advisory for current remediation guidance. Until a fix is available, restrict access to the affected API endpoint or implement additional access controls to prevent unauthorized enumeration of product reviews.
