Technical Analysis
The Appointment Booking Plugin WordPress plugin versions prior to 5.6.5 do not properly verify that a backend staff user is authorized to act on the specific record targeted for deletion. As a result, an authenticated user with a staff role scoped to certain records can delete any order, customer, or transaction on the site, including those belonging to other staff members and outside their assigned scope. This is an authorization bypass vulnerability affecting record deletion functionality.
Potential Impact
Authenticated backend staff users with limited record-scoped roles can delete any order, customer, or transaction record on the site, including those outside their authorized scope. This can lead to irreversible data loss and potential disruption of business operations related to appointment bookings.
Mitigation Recommendations
A fix is available in version 5.6.5 of the Appointment Booking Plugin. Users should upgrade to version 5.6.5 or later to remediate this authorization vulnerability. No other mitigation guidance is provided.
