AI-suggested

Users should upgrade to CPython versions 3.12.4 or 3.13.0a6 or later, which contain the updated IANA registry information and correct the is_private and is_global property behavior. No other mitigation is indicated or required.

Description

The ipaddress module in Python contained incorrect classification of certain IPv4 and IPv6 addresses regarding their designation as globally reachable or private. This affected the is_private and is_global properties of the ipaddress.IPv4Address, ipaddress.IPv4Network, ipaddress.IPv6Address, and ipaddress.IPv6Network classes. The incorrect behavior was due to outdated information from the IANA Special-Purpose Address Registries. Updated versions of CPython (3.12.4 and 3.13.0a6) include corrected data to align with the latest registries.
