Technical Analysis

The vulnerability in Kubio AI Page Builder WordPress plugin before version 2.9.3 arises because the plugin does not restrict its expanded allowance of HTML elements to the editor context only. Instead, this broader set of allowed HTML elements is also applied when filtering content submitted by unauthenticated users. Consequently, attackers can store malicious markup that the plugin's own script executes in the browsers of visitors or administrators reviewing unapproved content, potentially leading to cross-site scripting or similar client-side attacks.

Potential Impact

Unauthenticated users can inject malicious HTML markup that is executed in the browsers of site visitors or administrators reviewing unapproved submissions. This can lead to client-side code execution, which may result in session hijacking, defacement, or other browser-based attacks. The vulnerability affects the confidentiality and integrity of users interacting with the affected WordPress site.

Mitigation Recommendations

A fix is available in Kubio AI Page Builder version 2.9.3. Users should upgrade to version 2.9.3 or later to remediate this vulnerability. No additional mitigation steps are indicated in the provided data.
