Description

The Otter Blocks WordPress plugin versions before 3.2.8 improperly handle access control for post data via a REST API endpoint. It treats any post with published status as publicly readable, allowing unauthenticated users to access manual excerpts of password-protected posts, content and titles of non-public post types, and on WooCommerce sites, coupon codes and their descriptions. This vulnerability can lead to unauthorized information disclosure.

Technical Analysis

CVE-2026-109934 affects the Otter Blocks WordPress plugin prior to version 3.2.8. The plugin fails to correctly verify whether a post is publicly readable before returning its data through a REST API endpoint. Specifically, it treats any post marked as published as public, which leads to unauthorized disclosure of sensitive information. This includes manual excerpts of password-protected posts, content and titles of non-public post types, and, in WooCommerce environments, coupon codes and their descriptions. The vulnerability is classified under CWE-200 (Exposure of Sensitive Information).

Potential Impact

Unauthenticated users can access sensitive information that should be restricted, such as excerpts of password-protected posts, non-public post content and titles, and WooCommerce coupon codes and descriptions. This unauthorized data exposure could lead to information leakage but does not allow modification or denial of service.

Mitigation Recommendations

A fix is available in Otter Blocks plugin version 3.2.8. Users should upgrade to version 3.2.8 or later to remediate this vulnerability. No other mitigation steps are indicated.
