Technical Analysis

The PEAK-System PCAN driver contains a vulnerability (CVE-2026-109576) where the parser correctly identifies malformed records, but the iteration loop incorrectly increments the processed-bytes counter despite rejecting invalid records. This behavior can cause issues in processing the record list, potentially leading to denial of service or other availability impacts.

Potential Impact

The vulnerability does not impact confidentiality or integrity but can cause availability issues due to improper record processing. The CVSS score of 5.5 (medium severity) reflects the potential for denial of service or disruption in normal operation of the PCAN driver.

Mitigation Recommendations

No patch or official fix information is provided. Patch status is not yet confirmed — check the vendor advisory for current remediation guidance. Until a fix is available, users should monitor for updates from PEAK-System and apply any official patches once released.
