What to do

AI-suggested

Until a fix is available, it is recommended to restrict access to the vulnerable endpoint, implement CSRF protections, and monitor for unauthorized password change attempts. Do not rely on the password change function without verifying the current password.

Description

The password change function at /cgi/admin.cgi does not require the current password, allowing an attacker to change a user's password without knowing the old one. This vulnerability enables account takeover by exploiting the password reset parameter, potentially combined with a CSRF attack.
