The Perl SNMP trap receiver script shipped with Zabbix does not properly neutralize the ZBXTRAP record delimiter in trap content. (CVE-2026-59787)
Description
The Perl SNMP trap receiver script included with Zabbix does not properly neutralize the ZBXTRAP record delimiter within trap content. This vulnerability allows an attacker who can send SNMP traps to inject a record that targets another host, leading to a loss of data integrity.

Technical Analysis
CVE-2026-59787 identifies a vulnerability in the Perl SNMP trap receiver script shipped with Zabbix. The script fails to properly neutralize the ZBXTRAP record delimiter in incoming SNMP trap content. As a result, an attacker capable of sending SNMP traps can craft malicious trap content that injects records targeting other hosts, causing integrity issues within the system's trap processing.
Potential Impact
An attacker with the ability to send SNMP traps can exploit this vulnerability to inject crafted records that affect other hosts, resulting in compromised integrity of trap data. There is no indication of privilege escalation, confidentiality breach, or availability impact. The impact is limited to integrity loss in trap content processing.
Mitigation Recommendations
No patch or official fix information is provided in the available data. Patch status is not yet confirmed — check the vendor advisory for current remediation guidance. Until a fix is available, restrict SNMP trap sources to trusted entities to reduce the risk of exploitation.
