Source: GCVE Database
Vendor/Project: measX
Product: DASYLab

Description

An out-of-bounds read vulnerability exists in measX DASYLab due to improper validation of user-supplied data. This flaw allows reading a few bytes beyond the allocated heap buffer during file handling when a specially crafted .DSB file is opened. The vulnerability affects all versions before 2026.0.0. Exploitation requires user interaction to open the malicious file. The issue has a high severity rating with a CVSS score of 8.5.

Technical Analysis

CVE-2026-64198 is an out-of-bounds read vulnerability (CWE-125) in measX DASYLab caused by insufficient validation of user-supplied data during file handling. Specifically, opening a crafted .DSB file can trigger reading beyond the end of an allocated heap buffer, potentially leading to information disclosure or application instability. This vulnerability affects all versions prior to 2026.0.0. Exploitation requires local user interaction (opening the malicious file) and no privileges are required. The CVSS 3.1 base score is 8.5, reflecting high impact on confidentiality, integrity, and availability.

Potential Impact

Successful exploitation can lead to reading memory beyond allocated buffers, which may disclose sensitive information or cause application crashes. The vulnerability requires a user to open a malicious .DSB file, so social engineering is necessary. There are no known exploits in the wild at this time.

Mitigation Recommendations

Patch status is not yet confirmed — check the vendor advisory for current remediation guidance. Until a fix is available, users should avoid opening untrusted or unexpected .DSB files to prevent exploitation.
