Description

CVE-2026-64200 is a high-severity out-of-bounds read vulnerability in measX DASYLab. It occurs due to improper validation of user-supplied data, leading to reading past the end of an allocated heap buffer during string conversion. Exploitation requires a user to open a specially crafted .DSB file. This affects all versions before 2026.0.0.

Technical Analysis

This vulnerability in measX DASYLab is caused by improper validation of user input, resulting in an out-of-bounds read (CWE-125) past the end of a heap buffer during string conversion. An attacker can exploit this by convincing a user to open a maliciously crafted .DSB file. The flaw affects all versions prior to 2026.0.0. The CVSS 3.1 base score is 8.5, indicating high severity, with local attack vector, low complexity, no privileges required, user interaction needed, and high impacts on confidentiality, integrity, and availability.

Potential Impact

Successful exploitation can lead to reading memory beyond allocated buffers, potentially exposing sensitive information or causing application instability. The attack requires local access and user interaction (opening a crafted file). The vulnerability impacts confidentiality, integrity, and availability at a high level.

Mitigation Recommendations

No official patch or fix is currently available for this vulnerability. Users should avoid opening untrusted or suspicious .DSB files to mitigate risk. Monitor vendor advisories for updates regarding patches or official remediation.
