AI-suggested
A patch fixing this issue is available and included in Linux kernel versions 6.17.0-1007.7~24.04.1 and later. Users should update to these or newer kernel versions to resolve the deadlock issue. The vendor advisory confirms the availability of this fix as part of broader Linux kernel security updates.
Description
A vulnerability in the Linux kernel's drm/amdkfd subsystem caused a deadlock and system hangs due to a write lock on mmap not being released properly during a retry fault draining process. This issue has been fixed by downgrading the mmap write lock to a read lock in the affected code path. The fix is included in updated Linux kernel versions.
