A patch is available and should be applied to affected linux-aws kernel versions to fix the memory leak. Users should update to the fixed kernel versions as indicated in the vendor advisory. No additional mitigation actions are required.
Description
A memory leak vulnerability in the Linux kernel's SMB client component (cifs_construct_tcon) has been fixed. The issue occurs during multiuser mounts with a specified domain using cifscreds, where domainname is set without proper freeing, causing a memory leak. This flaw was detected by kmemleak and affects certain linux-aws kernel versions. A patch is available to address this issue.
