AI-suggested
An official patch is available and should be applied to affected Linux kernel versions. Users should upgrade to linux-hwe-edge kernel versions 6.8.0-1051.51~22.04.1 or later where the issue is fixed. No additional mitigation steps are indicated by the vendor advisory.
Description
A vulnerability in the Linux kernel's BPF subsystem was fixed that involved an out-of-bounds write in the stack map data array. The flaw occurred when the perf trace contained more stack entries than the stack map bucket could hold, leading to a stackmap overflow check failure in __bpf_get_stackid(). This issue was reported by Syzkaller and could cause a kernel memory corruption. The vulnerability affects specific linux-hwe-edge kernel versions prior to 6.8.0-1051.51~22.04.1 and similar builds. A patch is available to address this issue.
