A patch is available and should be applied. The vulnerability has been fixed in updated Linux kernel versions as detailed in the Ubuntu security advisory USN-8096-1. Users should update to the fixed kernel versions to remediate this issue.
Description
A vulnerability in the Linux kernel's F2FS filesystem was fixed to prevent updating a zero-sized extent in the extent cache. The issue could cause a kernel bug and invalid opcode error due to adding a zero-sized extent in error paths of the f2fs_zero_range() function. This flaw was reported by syzbot and has been resolved in updated Linux kernel versions.
