Technical Analysis

This vulnerability, identified as CWE-79, involves improper input sanitization in MapGeo Interactive Geo Maps (<= 1.6.30). It enables unauthenticated attackers to perform cross-site scripting attacks, potentially leading to partial compromise of confidentiality, integrity, and availability. The CVSS 3.1 base score is 7.1, reflecting network attack vector, low attack complexity, no privileges required, user interaction required, and scope change with low impact on confidentiality, integrity, and availability.

Potential Impact

Successful exploitation can lead to execution of arbitrary scripts in the context of the affected application, potentially allowing attackers to steal sensitive information, manipulate data, or disrupt service. The impact is rated as high due to the scope change and combined low-level impacts on confidentiality, integrity, and availability.

Mitigation Recommendations

No patch or official fix information is currently available. Patch status is not yet confirmed — check the vendor advisory for current remediation guidance. Until a fix is provided, users should apply standard XSS mitigations such as input validation and output encoding where possible.
