The 2026 VulnCheck Exploit Intelligence Report analyzes vulnerability exploitation trends in 2025, distinguishing between 'weaponized' and 'exploited' CVEs. 'Weaponized' CVEs refer to vulnerabilities for which exploit code or tools have been developed and made available, while 'exploited' CVEs are those actually used in attacks in the wild. The report highlights that only about 1% of disclosed vulnerabilities were exploited, but those exploited caused significant impact. It also discusses the rise of AI-generated exploit code increasing noise in risk assessments and the evolving tactics of threat actors, including ransomware groups and nation-linked actors. The report aims to help organizations prioritize real threats over misleading signals.

I'm currently reading through the 2026 VulnCheck Exploit Intelligence Report and found the graphic on page 4 about exploited and weaponized CVEs. It talks about around 250 2025-CVEs (or CVEs with exploits?) being weaponized and around 420 2025-CVEs being exploited throughout the year 2025. Sorry for not providing a screenshot. I don't think I'm allowed to post the contents of the report directly.

I can't make sense of what the difference between that should be. I'd greatly appreciate any and all ideas. Here is a link to the Reportpage: https://wwv.vulncheck.com/2026-vulncheck-exploit-intelligence-report
