Description

YesWiki versions prior to 4.6.7 have an authentication bypass vulnerability in the ActivityPub inbox. This flaw allows unauthenticated attackers with any ActivityPub keypair to send signed Delete or Update activities that can delete or overwrite federated entries of other actors. The vulnerability arises because the system fails to bind the verified HTTP signature signer to the activity actor, enabling unauthorized modification of federated content.

Technical Analysis

The vulnerability in YesWiki before version 4.6.7 involves an authentication bypass in the ActivityPub inbox component. Specifically, the software does not properly bind the verified HTTP signature signer to the actor of the activity, allowing attackers who possess any ActivityPub keypair to send signed Delete or Update activities. These activities can reference a mirrored entry's sourceUrl, enabling the attacker to delete or overwrite federated entries belonging to other actors. This issue is tracked as CVE-2026-104445 and has a CVSS 3.1 base score of 8.2, indicating high severity.

Potential Impact

Exploitation of this vulnerability allows unauthenticated attackers to delete or modify federated entries of other actors within the YesWiki ActivityPub federation. This can lead to integrity loss of federated data and potential disruption of federated services relying on YesWiki. There is no confidentiality impact reported, but integrity is highly impacted, and availability impact is low.

Mitigation Recommendations

A fix is available in YesWiki version 4.6.7 and later. Users should upgrade to version 4.6.7 or newer to remediate this authentication bypass vulnerability. No additional mitigation recommendations are provided in the available data.
