Description

YesWiki versions prior to 4.6.7 have a vulnerability in the triples delete API where an empty-filter scope bypass allows any authenticated user to delete or forge arbitrary semantic triples. This includes the ability to remove the admins-group membership triple, which can cause a site-wide authorization lockout by emptying the admin group.

Technical Analysis

The vulnerability in YesWiki before version 4.6.7 involves an empty-filter scope bypass in the triples delete API. Authenticated users can exploit this flaw by sending an empty filter to the delete endpoint, enabling them to delete or forge arbitrary semantic triples regardless of ownership. This can be leveraged to remove critical triples such as the admins-group membership triple, resulting in a complete loss of administrative access and a site-wide authorization lockout.

Potential Impact

Exploitation of this vulnerability allows any authenticated user to delete or forge arbitrary semantic triples, including those controlling administrative group membership. This can lead to a site-wide authorization lockout by removing all admin users, effectively denying administrative control and potentially disrupting site operations.

Mitigation Recommendations

A fix is available in YesWiki version 4.6.7. Users should upgrade to version 4.6.7 or later to remediate this vulnerability. Since the vendor advisory or patch links are not explicitly provided, confirm the patch status with the vendor or official YesWiki sources before applying.
